Our Space
Lake City Recording offers an artist-centred studio environment designed for comfort, creativity and focused recording.
The space allows for 24 channels of I/O, an isolation booth with clear line of sight to the main control room, as well as the entry foyer which houses our 100 year-old Julius Bluther upright piano.
The studio is ideal for vocal sessions, production, mixing, overdubs and smaller tracking setups.
For larger projects, Lake City has access to flexible spaces within the New Acton Precinct and also collaborates with a network of trusted studio spaces, allowing full band sessions and larger ensembles or workshops to be accommodated when required.

Gear & Equipment
Lake City Recording features a hybrid analogue-digital setup built around premium microphones, boutique outboard gear and reference-grade monitoring. The studio is designed to capture performances with clarity, depth and character while providing the flexibility needed for modern music and commercial audio production.

Our engineers and producers bring technical precision and a collaborative approach to every session, supporting artists, bands, and brands from the first take through to the final delivery.
FAQs
-
Our preference is to have a quick chat before booking in your first session.
For recording sessions, we'll usually give you access to an online booking link once we've had a chat, and from there, you'll be able to see recording availability and book whenever you'd like.
All our recording bookings are pre-paid, and any additional time is invoiced after the session. For other services like mixing or production, we require a 50% deposit before beginning, and the rest is only due once everyone's happy with the result. Files are usually sent for review throughout the process, and downloadable once everything is done and dusted!
Get in touch for a free meet (either via call or in-person) to talk through the best process for your specific project.

We can often help see a music or audio related project through from beginning to end, either in-house, or bringing in any necessary combination of producers, engineers or session musicians.
Ultimately, we deal with audio and music, but if your project needs a visual element (or other elements), we can often tap into our network; either bringing them in on the project and managing the process for you, or simply helping connect you with the right people to make sure the end result is the best it can possibly be.
One note: we aren't a rehearsal space, and don't currently offer that service, but can point you in the right direction.
-
We aim to be as music-focused as possible, rather than genre specific at Lake City. We strongly believe that good music is simply good music.
Our engineers and producers allow us to have a large range of expertise and ability to execute on a tonne of genres and styles, and across a range of experience, from first time music creators to well established global artists.
-
We offer a wide range of services within music creation and audio work, so our prices reflect that range.
The pricing will depend on what you're trying to achieve, and with which expierience-level of engineer or producer best fits (or whoever you might like to work with, specifically).
For large projects, or projects with a lot of components, we're usually happy to offer custom packages, specifically tailored to you and what you're trying to achieve.

The studio is available for dry hires by freelance engineers, producers, and artists. It can be hired either per hour, or per day (10hrs).
Dry hires are a great way to access the studio on your own, or with your own engineer. Our space is often used by producers and engineers who are keen to access a quality space to test mixes, record, run their own sessions or generally work on their own projects.
You can use our studio computer, or bring your own. Personal computers can be connected to our system through an aux cable for basic monitoring, or full integration for access to all aspects of the studio, patchbay and gear.
Depending on your use-case and experience, we offer a range of inductions, from our basic 30 minute induction through to comprehensinve lessons on how to make the most of the space. All dry hire bookers will need to be properly vetted by one of our team before any access is given.
Feel free to get in contact to ask about the process for dry hires.
-
We offer limited slots for work experience and it usually comes down to luck in terms of when we take them on.
Because of the amount of work experience requests we get vs our capacity, we've deleloped a 'paid placement' option alongside our work experience slots.
Get in contact with us to find out more about either our work experience, or paid placement.
-
We don't do any formal courses, but will often create custom one-to-one lessons built for whatever goal you have in mind.
Our area of expertise is usually based around mixing, production, recording, and general studio experience.
We don't do lessons on specific instruments (eg. piano lessons), although we may be able to point you in the right direction.
